Faith in God - The Creator

Psalm 19

For the choir director. A Psalm of David.
    1The heavens are telling of the glory of God;
         And their expanse is declaring the work of His hands.
    2Day to day pours forth speech,
         And night to night reveals knowledge.
    3There is no speech, nor are there words;
         Their voice is not heard.
    4Their line has gone out through all the earth,
         And their utterances to the end of the world
         In them He has placed a tent for the sun,
    5Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber;
         It rejoices as a strong man to run his course.
    6Its rising is from one end of the heavens,
         And its circuit to the other end of them;
         And there is nothing hidden from its heat.

As the sun came up this morning I celebrated with David and all those who know why it rose - To demonstrate - the glory of the One who created it.

The very first words of the scripture tell us a most important reason we are to have faith in God.

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.  Genesis 1:1

God is the Creator of everything. He created it from nothing. He did not create it from Himself. The creation is the work of His hands. The crowning glory of that creation was humanity. We are the reflection of his image.

Genesis 1:26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. 28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”

When we place our faith in God as Creator we understand that nothing that is made is to be worshiped. The creation is not to be worshiped but it's Creator is. And as David reminds us the creation is to evoke worship awe and wonder.

Psalm 8

For the choir director; on the Gittith. A Psalm of David.
    O LORD, our Lord,
         How majestic is Your name in all the earth,
         Who have displayed Your splendor above the heavens!
    2 From the mouth of infants and nursing babes You have established strength
         Because of Your adversaries,
         To make the enemy and the revengeful cease.
    3When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers,
         The moon and the stars, which You have ordained;
    4 What is man that You take thought of him,
         And the son of man that You care for him?
    5 Yet You have made him a little lower than God,
         And You crown him with glory and majesty!
    6 You make him to rule over the works of Your hands;
         You have put all things under his feet,
    7All sheep and oxen,
         And also the beasts of the field,
    8 The birds of the heavens and the fish of the sea,
         Whatever passes through the paths of the seas.
    9 O LORD, our Lord,
         How majestic is Your name in all the earth!

When we place our faith in God as Creator we understand that all that has been created has no ability to give life except as it comes from God through it. God alone is the Life Giver. The reason Jesus alone could be the Savior is he was God visiting this planet. But before he was the Life Giving savior he was the Life Giving Creator. Because he was Creator first he was able to be Savior later.

John 1
 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
 2 The same was in the beginning with God.
 3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
 4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
 5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

Jesus was God before he was human. He was there in the beginning as the Logos of God (Word of God) He was the way God created the earth:

Genesis 1:3
And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

Genesis 1:6
And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.

Genesis 1:9
And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so.

Genesis 1:11
And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.

Genesis 1:14
And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:

Genesis 1:20
And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.

Genesis 1:24
And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so.

Genesis 1:26
And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

We understand that the power of creation in Jesus' word merits our full faith in it today.

When we place faith in God as Creator we understand that not even death can harm us. Life Giving Word from God was demonstrated when Jesus spoke to a dead man and he came back to life.

John 11:43And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth. 44And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go.

So today as the Sun came up I remembered that Jesus, as the Word (Logos) of the Living God, created me. He created everyone I love. He created the world and everything in it. He created the vast expanse of the universe. As Creator He is beyond all I see and over all I see. He is not only worthy of my trust but the only one who can fulfill what I am trusting him for.
